A renewable energy company needed to perform regular, beyond-visual-line-of-sight (BVLOS) inspections of remote, offshore wind turbines. Their standard drone video links were unreliable over the required 8+ km distance, suffering from severe latency, video dropouts, and control signal instability due to environmental interference, making precise, efficient inspections impossible.
Our Solution:
We deployed our Secure Long-Range Wireless Data Link System, a dual-channel solution for simultaneous command & control and HD video/telemetry.
A robust, frequency-agile RF link was established for ultra-reliable drone piloting and command, featuring automatic interference mitigation.
A dedicated, high-bandwidth directional transmission system was implemented for stable, low-latency HD video streaming and real-time sensor data downlink.
The Result:
The wind farm operator successfully conducted fully remote inspections. The wireless system provided a stable, real-time HD video feed and two-way data link up to 10 km, with packet loss below 0.1%. This eliminated the need for costly crewed vessel deployments, reducing inspection time per turbine by 65% and enabling predictive maintenance through high-quality, immediate data analysis. The project proved the critical role of a professional-grade wireless link in commercial BVLOS operations.
